Job Summary

A Steward is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the hotel's kitchen and dining areas. This includes cleaning and storing china, glass, and silverware, as well as assisting the kitchen staff in maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the kitchen, dining areas, and storage facilities.
  • Operate dishwashing equipment to ensure that all china, glass, and silverware are cleaned thoroughly and sanitized.
  • Replace clean china, glass, and silverware in their proper storage locations, taking care to minimize breakage.
  • Wash pots, pans, and kitchen utensils according to proper procedures for cleanliness and sanitation, and store them in their proper locations.
  • Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Empty garbage from food and beverage areas into the hotel dumpster.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the back dock and dumpster area.
  • Perform other tasks and jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Ability to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
