">We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Elementary School Guidance Professional to join our team. As a licensed school counselor or advanced degree holder in counseling psychology, you will play a vital role in promoting the healthy development of our students and their families.
">About the Role:
">- Provide short-term individual and small-group counseling services addressing behavioral, emotional, social, and mental health issues.
- Deliver classroom developmental guidance and social/emotional learning lessons that foster a supportive environment.
- Collaborate with parents/guardians, teachers, support staff, administrators, medical professionals, and community mental health personnel to ensure comprehensive support.
- Maintain relationships with qualified therapists and/or community agencies, providing referrals as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and outside agencies or mental health personnel, ensuring seamless communication.
- Act as a resource for understanding child and early adolescent development, guiding faculty and staff on topics like behavior management and recognizing mental health challenges.
- Develop and provide robust parent/guardian education on relevant topics, empowering them to support their children's growth.
- Respond to crises, including separation and loss or acute mental health needs, demonstrating compassion and expertise.
- Take a leadership role on the Lower School student support team, crafting meaningful interventions and serving as a point person for implementing support services.
- Collaborate closely with Lower School learning specialists and the PK-12 counseling department to ensure cohesive support.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communication in accordance with professional standards.
Requirements:
">- Previous experience in lower school counseling is essential.
- A licensed school counselor or advanced degree in counseling psychology is mandatory.
- The ability to develop high levels of trust and rapport with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues with diverse backgrounds and identities is crucial.
- Familiarity with recognizing and supporting students who demonstrate signs of learning differences is necessary.
- Experience conducting classroom observations and implementing behavioral intervention strategies is highly valued.
- Demonstrated commitment to pluralism and intercultural competence is essential.
Compensation: We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
