Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team in the Chemistry Department at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in performing laboratory tests and conducting analysis of blood, urine, spinal fluid, and other biological samples to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory tests and conduct analysis of biological samples
  • Enter results in electronic medical records and perform quality controls to verify accurate test results
  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Manage and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment
  • Perform quality control and calibrations, taking corrective action as needed
  • Communicate technical information to RNs, physicians, and laboratory clients
Requirements
  • Associate of Science in Medical Laboratory Technician from a regionally accredited school or program
  • Eligible to take the ASCP or equivalent certification board exam as a Medical Laboratory Technician
  • Must pass the exam within 1 year of hire or eligible date
