Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a tidy recycling yard by sweeping, raking, and collecting debris such as broken glass and loose paper.
  • Conduct seasonal weed control around the yard.
  • Utilize specialized equipment to safely extract refrigerants from discarded appliances.
  • Manage daily hydration needs for yard personnel by distributing water and Gatorade.
  • Support the implementation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) tasks.
  • Inspect and maintain storm drains and outfalls.
  • Replace storm drain inlet filters as required.
  • Address minor oil spills by applying absorbent materials and ensuring proper disposal.
  • Restock Emergency Spill Kits throughout the yard.
  • Install Oil Drip Pads under leaking equipment and replace them as necessary.
  • Perform power washing of equipment and containers.
  • Clean portable restrooms and handwashing stations regularly.
  • Ensure handwashing stations are emptied and refilled as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by removing hazards and debris.
  • Conduct housekeeping duties around shredders, ensuring clear pathways and work surfaces.
  • Adhere to company and OSHA safety protocols.
  • Follow directives from Yard Supervisors.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in the safe use of hand tools, including snip cutters, brooms, and shovels.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Willingness to work in various positions, including overhead tasks, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Adaptable to working in diverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks under pressure.
