Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Sheet Metal Repair Specialist to join our team at Ascent Aviation. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the repair and maintenance of aircraft sheet metal structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and interpret technical data to perform inspections, repairs, and replacements of aircraft sheet metal structures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and product specifications to determine the sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
  • Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal parts, equipment, and products using knowledge of working characteristics of metallic and nonmetallic materials, machining, and layout techniques.
  • Select gauge and type of sheet metal, such as stainless steel, steel, or aluminum, or nonmetallic material, such as plastics or fiberglass, according to product specifications.
  • Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material, using scribes, dividers, squares, and rulers applying knowledge of shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns of product or parts.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary education or training in aircraft maintenance or equivalent combination of education, training or experience required.
  • One to five years experience in aircraft structural repair preferred.
  • A License preferred. Valid drivers license required.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing and reaching above shoulder level. Occasional crawling, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 50lbs unassisted. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity, corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Equipment Operated

The successful candidate will be required to operate a variety of equipment including hydraulic press brake, power shear, forming equipment, hand tools, lift equipment, stands, ladders, glass beading equipment, rivet guns, and drills.

Protective Equipment Required

The successful candidate will be required to wear protective equipment including goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses, and breathing equipment.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the ability to organize and plan work adhering to deadlines; attention to detail and mathematical skills; ability to read, write, and understand the English language and to follow verbal and written instruction; ability to interpret and apply technical data relating to position; ability to safely drive and operate a standard shift automotive vehicle and other applicable equipment; ability to work with or without supervision.
