SUMMARY
The Lead Cybersecurity Engineer is tasked with the evaluation, formulation, execution, and interpretation of information and system security protocols and methodologies. This position demands exceptional technical and analytical skills, including advanced network management capabilities and proficiency in scripting languages. You will develop recommendations aligned with directives, policies, standards, and regulations, operating autonomously and exercising discretion in your responsibilities. This role also encompasses leadership and guidance for all cybersecurity personnel.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership and Guidance: Offer leadership and mentorship to all cybersecurity staff, promoting a culture of security awareness across the organization.
  • Cloud Security Framework: Create and execute comprehensive cloud security frameworks to safeguard our infrastructure, data, and applications hosted on cloud platforms.
  • Security Design: Architect secure cloud infrastructures, taking into account elements such as network security, identity and access management (IAM), data encryption, and secure deployment methodologies.
  • Risk Evaluation and Compliance: Perform regular risk evaluations and vulnerability assessments to identify security weaknesses and ensure adherence to relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Incident Management and Threat Mitigation: Develop and maintain incident management protocols, lead inquiries into security incidents and breaches, and implement proactive strategies for threat detection and mitigation.
  • Identity and Access Management (IAM): Establish and oversee robust IAM solutions to regulate access to cloud resources, including user authentication, authorization, and privilege management.
  • Security Automation: Deploy security automation and orchestration tools to enhance security operations and improve response times to security incidents.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Configure and manage security monitoring systems to continuously oversee cloud environments for suspicious activities and security events. Develop and maintain centralized logging systems for comprehensive visibility into cloud operations.
  • Security Training and Awareness: Provide security education and awareness initiatives to inform employees about best security practices.
  • Network and Application Security Measures: Design, implement, and manage network and application security measures such as intrusion detection/prevention systems, vulnerability assessments, log reporting, endpoint protection, and encryption capabilities.
  • Technical Solutions and Tools: Create technical solutions and innovative security tools to address security vulnerabilities and automate repetitive tasks.
  • Security Evaluations: Plan and conduct security evaluations such as penetration tests, vulnerability assessments, and web application security assessments. Report findings and assist in the development and execution of remediation strategies.
  • Policy Development and Compliance: Ensure that information technology policies are appropriate, achievable, and adhered to. Participate in the creation and administration of sensitive information handling and storage practices.
  • Incident Response: Address information system security incidents, including the investigation of countermeasures and recovery from attacks, unauthorized access, and policy violations. Collaborate with external incident response teams.
  • Advisory Role: Provide recommendations for IT processes and technology enhancements with a focus on security, and collaborate with software development to establish secure development and application configuration standards.
  • On-call Availability: Be available for after-hours on-call support and incident response as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in network management, with at least 5 years focused on cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated experience in securing cloud environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cloud security principles, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Strong grasp of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, and firewalls.
  • Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, WAF, and vulnerability management scanners.
  • Relevant certifications such as GSEC, Security+, or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) are advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams.
  • Highly analytical with a strong work ethic and organizational capabilities.
