POSITION OVERVIEW:

The primary duty of the Cash Handling Specialist is to manage financial transactions and exchanges with guests.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute entry-level transactions, including banking and cage credit transactions, as well as employee bank/window transactions.
  • Handle functions in marker/IOU bank, cash bank, main bank, and high limit cages; may also assist with patron kiosks and employee recycling units.
  • Process various types of checks for patrons within established guidelines; redeem tokens, TITO (ticket in/ticket out), and race and sports tickets.
  • Conduct marker and front money transactions on patron accounts; exchange all acceptable foreign currencies.
  • Secure and document all recordable transactions involving company assets; log all checks cashed in the designated computer system.
  • Accurately complete electronic transaction logs and manual logs when necessary; balance the bank at the end of each shift.
  • Provide patrons with general information as requested.
  • Issue or return safety deposit boxes.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in English communication, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with all business contacts.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and cash handling.
  • Capability to balance a bank independently, identifying discrepancies when necessary.
  • Advanced understanding of the relationship between banks, particularly the main bank and other service windows.
  • Familiarity with 10-key adding machines, currency counters, and cash advance machines.
  • Basic proficiency in computer software, including Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as office equipment like telephones, copiers, and fax machines.
  • Strong organizational skills to operate effectively under time constraints and meet established deadlines, with a keen attention to detail.
