Energy Systems Research Faculty

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced researcher to join our team at the Penn State University Applied Research Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research and development in power and energy systems, with a focus on underwater applications and other unique constraints.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute research projects in power and energy systems, including prototype development and testing
- Collaborate with other researchers and faculty members to achieve program objectives
- Engage with related academic units at Penn State University to foster collaboration and leverage University resources
- Develop and write proposals to internal and external sponsors to secure funding for research projects
- Master's degree (PhD preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a similar engineering discipline
- Strong technical background with experience in design, analysis, testing, and/or computational analysis for power and energy systems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A minimum of 5 years research and/or engineering experience, including a track record of successful project/team leadership
- Experience in power and energy systems, combustion dynamics, electrochemical devices, heat exchangers, chemical reactions, experimental diagnostics, systems engineering, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element analysis (FEA), materials/component selection, and other related areas
