We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Trades Worker to join our team at the County of Volusia, FL. As a Senior Trades Worker, you will be responsible for performing skilled journeyman-level work in various trades, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and air conditioning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all levels of plumbing repair, replacement, renovation, and new work, including fixtures, fittings, lines, and more.
  • Perform all levels of electrical repair, replacement, renovations, and new work, including lighting, switches, receptacles, motors, and various types of conduits.
  • Perform welding and small engine repair.
  • Perform all levels of air conditioning equipment trouble shooting, repair, replacement of components, cyclic preventive maintenance, and more.
  • Perform all levels of work related to utility infrastructure at water, troubleshooting, and maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, and structural components.
  • Supervise small crews in assignments of basic construction and/or maintenance work.
  • Operate all associated equipment, including medium-size weight construction equipment and vehicles.
  • Load and unload trailer equipment and materials.
  • Operate a computer, including sending emails, using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Input data into the county asset management system.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or possession of GED and Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance and repair in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, air conditioning, pipe installation and repair, concrete or brick work.
  • Journeyman level experience in one or more of the skilled trades, including plumbing, pipe laying, electrical, mechanical, and air conditioning.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
  • CDL (level to be determined by division) may be required depending on position assignment.
