Job Title: Orthopedic Neurological Nurse Specialist

Estimated Salary: $83,000 - $110,000 per year.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Ortho Neuro team at Alaska Regional Hospital. As an Orthopedic Neurological Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient-centered care in line with the department's requirements and relevant state standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patient conditions during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying any changes in patient status promptly.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, ensuring thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record.
  • Administer prescribed medications, monitor patients for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in case of unintended medication responses.
  • Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, anticipating patient needs proactively, and resolving them effectively.

You will educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.

Requirements
  • Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse License is required.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) certification is mandatory.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) certification is preferred.
  • An Associate Degree in Nursing is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Experience in Ortho/Neuro nursing is preferred.
  • The ability to articulate and demonstrate appropriate nursing theory and practice is essential.
  • Certification as a Certified Ortho/Neuro Nurse is preferred.
