Empowering Communities through Disaster Response

We are seeking a highly skilled and bilingual Community Disaster Program Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our disaster response team, you will play a critical role in guiding and leading teams of trained volunteers to deliver comfort and care in times of disaster.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Engagement: Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team responsible for implementing disaster cycle services programming, ensuring services are delivered rapidly, accessibly, and equitably to meet the urgent needs of our clients.
  • Program Support: Assist with the successful implementation of disaster cycle services program activities or functions within an assigned geographic area.
  • Mission Capacity Building: Engage disaster volunteers who are representative of the communities they serve, culturally and linguistically.
  • Community Engagement: Support local efforts to prepare and mobilize communities, engaging partners to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and emergencies.
  • Matrix Management: Implement plans to meet assigned targets for volunteer engagement and volunteer-led Disaster Action Team response to local home fires or support specific function tasks within an assigned geographic area.
  • Community Knowledge: Act as the local point of contact for partners and communities, partnering with local organizations and leaders to support frontline communities and community resiliency before, during, and after disasters.
  • Ready to Respond: Participate in disaster response operations in the region, in alignment with the Disaster Cycle Services Concept of Operations, upon completion of training requirements.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience.
  • Language: Must be bilingual and proficient in Spanish.
  • Valid Driver's License: Required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Emergency Management or Disaster Services: Shelter experience.
  • Community Engagement and Partner Relationships: Experience in cultivating partner relationships.
  • Volunteer Management: Experience in volunteer management.
  • Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills.
