Key Responsibilities of the CNC Machinist:

  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, positive demeanor, and teamwork, reporting to the lead technician, shop supervisor, and general manager.
  • Implements shop policies and mentors a team of 30-40 machinists, promoting a culture of learning.
  • Available to address inquiries, resolve issues, and provide constructive feedback, including conducting annual evaluations and managing disciplinary actions.
  • Sets up and operates CNC Mills and Lathes, selecting and securing fixtures, tools, and materials, while utilizing precision instruments to meet stringent tolerance standards.
  • Ensures that machines are maintained, cleaned, and that logs are updated monthly, reporting any issues to maintenance personnel.
  • Continuously seeks to optimize both machine and personnel performance.
  • Stays informed about advancements in machine and tooling technologies.
  • Coordinates with supervisors and leads for labor transitions.
  • Manages supplies and inventory in collaboration with Procurement Management.
  • Designs jigs, fixtures, and templates to improve production efficiency.
  • Enhances established practices to maximize departmental productivity.

Qualifications for the CNC Machinist:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining and Mastercam programming, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Formal training in machining and completion of coursework from an accredited trade school is preferred.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (ASME) and welding symbols.
  • Experience with AS9102B First Article Inspection Reports.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 & AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Strong skills in programming, problem-solving, analytical thinking, mathematics, mechanics, planning, organization, interpersonal communication, and effective communication.
  • Mechanically inclined with knowledge of metallurgy; understanding of geometry and basic trigonometry.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs, maneuver materials using a pallet jack, and operate grinders.
  • Punctual and able to commit to a standard 40-hour work week with regular overtime opportunities.
  • Dependable and hardworking.
