Job Overview
As a Principal Geotechnical Engineer at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will work closely with our executive leadership to enhance and expand our Geotechnical Engineering Practice. Your role will involve cultivating and nurturing relationships with both potential and current clients, driving the practice's growth on a local and regional scale.
Your extensive experience will enable you to guide external stakeholders through projects from initial concept to final construction, ensuring the highest standards of technical excellence. You will take charge of developing and reviewing project proposals and budgets, while also managing, mentoring, and leading a team of engineers and project managers. Quality control and assurance will be key responsibilities in your role.
In this position, you will oversee the coordination and management of geotechnical subsurface investigations pertinent to civil engineering designs, including building foundations, slope stability assessments, retaining wall evaluations, ground improvement strategies, and pavement designs. Additionally, you will manage waste and landfill projects, coordinating project teams to monitor subsurface drilling, collect soil and rock samples, prepare boring logs, and interpret laboratory data.
Your leadership will extend to guiding your team through complex civil engineering projects and strategic business development efforts. As part of the management team, you will play a crucial role in recruiting and developing staff, conducting performance reviews, and setting developmental goals for engineers and field technicians. Our senior management will collaborate with you to tailor your career trajectory through various professional development and mentoring opportunities.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering; M.S. preferred;
- 15+ years of experience in consulting geotechnical engineering;
- Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) required;
- Proven ability to manage, supervise, mentor, and train staff;
- Experience in building and leading technical and administrative teams;
- Successful track record in business development, client relationship management, and revenue generation.
