Your primary responsibilities will include assessing, programming, installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and servicing essential electronic equipment such as two-way mobile radios, repeaters, tablets, and other accessories in a diverse fleet that includes emergency response vehicles, public service trucks, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize service software effectively to execute installation tasks.
- Receive and complete assignments as directed by the Service Coordinator.
- Plan and install electronic systems into various vehicle types with precision.
- Diagnose and resolve power-related issues effectively.
- Familiarize yourself with various center console brands and installation components.
- Assist in assessing equipment needs for vehicle installations.
- Program and configure portable and mobile radios using appropriate software.
- Troubleshoot and repair antenna and power lines as necessary.
- Run necessary cabling for RF, power, and data connections.
- Cut, splice, and terminate wiring with the correct endpoints.
- Understand and apply knowledge of AC/DC voltage systems.
- Install power supplies and backup systems as required.
- Maintain tools and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Collaborate with the Service Coordinator to ensure timely project completion.
- Assist colleagues with on-site installations as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and standards.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred 3 years of experience in telecommunications.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to climb ladders and operate elevating equipment.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Willingness to travel overnight within the region.
Preferred Skills:
- Technical training and certifications in relevant fields.
- Military experience or related training.
Essential Skills:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong multitasking and time management abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and proactive approach.
- Solid understanding of technology and systems.
- Ability to follow detailed processes and instructions.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Understanding of basic electrical principles and troubleshooting methods.
- Knowledge of RF spectrum and antenna theory.
- Familiarity with basic networking concepts.
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams and documentation.
- Proficient in using a laptop with programming software.
Working Conditions:
- Standard business hours with potential after-hours and weekend work.
- Work will be conducted in both field and office/shop environments.
- Exposure to various weather conditions may occur.
Physical Requirements:
- Position involves driving, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and from elevated positions.
- Manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
