Position Overview:

Are you the next Senior Business Intelligence Engineer? Globe Life is seeking a skilled Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to enhance our team.

In this position, you will be tasked with delivering comprehensive reporting, conducting data exploratory analysis using SQL/AWS Redshift, and actively developing prominent visualization projects that generate strategic and transformative value for Globe Life's core business operations. This role will collaborate with data engineering, business stakeholders, and portfolio leaders to modernize our technology platforms and provide detailed dashboarding capabilities.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with proven data expertise, a variety of visual techniques with SQL/scripting proficiency, a solid understanding of IT data analytics architecture, deployment methodologies across multiple cloud technologies, and the integration of essential risk controls. This role will facilitate the rapid expansion of data self-service capabilities (training, discovery, collaboration, partnership, and ecosystems) throughout the organization.

This is a hybrid position.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering comprehensive reporting, conducting data exploratory analysis using SQL/AWS Redshift, and actively developing prominent visualization projects that generate strategic and transformative value for Globe Life's core business operations.
  • Expertise in data visualization and relevant methodologies; leading innovation in data and decision analytics.
  • Packaging and presenting recommendations to the executive leadership team through a combination of reporting and advanced analytics.
  • Championing data visualization through the development of Tableau/.NetCore/QuickSight.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional portfolios to enhance capability gaps, including business architecture, processes, sub-capabilities required, and target state.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a quantitative field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced Degree (Masters) in Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Finance, Econometrics, Operations Research, or other quantitative disciplines.
  • 6+ years of combined experience in BI applications, Tableau, SQL-Stored Procedures, and data-lake architectures.
  • Experience in developing complex statistical models for program evaluation and estimating impacts of various programs, interventions, and strategies on key clinical and business outcomes.
  • Significant analytical experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.
  • Experience in building applications on a cloud-native microservices architecture.
  • Proficient hands-on skills with NetCore 4.5+, D3/C3 Charting, Angular, JavaScript, and related libraries/frameworks.
  • Familiarity with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles, with exposure to JIRA, GitLab, and Jenkins.
  • Thorough understanding of non-functional requirements such as scalability, availability, logging, and monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of large-scale architecture design.
  • Deep understanding of leading SQL techniques, quantitative/statistical hypothesis analysis, and decision analytics, including full life-cycle development.
  • Experience with agile development tools, including Jira.
  • Ability to be hands-on while also serving as a player-coach.
  • Strong analytical and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels within the organization.
  • Financial service acumen and/or experience to lead large cross-functional initiatives.
  • Ability to accurately assess the length and complexity of tasks and projects.
  • Ability to work seamlessly with remote teams.
  • Delivery of high-quality strategic large-scale projects.
  • Self-directed, effective at prioritizing tasks, managing time, organizing people, and achieving results.
  • Exceptional influencing skills with sound judgment and decision-making abilities.

  • Deep knowledge of probability distributions.
  • Extensive experience with linear models and extensions, unsupervised dimensionality reduction, clustering methods, and tree-based methods.
  • Mastery in data transformation methodologies including SQL and scripting in Python.
  • Experience with common machine learning methods for descriptive and predictive applications.
  • Willingness to travel.
