Key ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities of the Triage RN or LPN include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting telephone triage as directed by healthcare providers.
- Engaging in patient consultations via phone, providing advice on appropriate actions, which may include referrals to emergency services, urgent care, or primary care physicians.
- Performing thorough assessments of patients' conditions to evaluate the severity of their health issues, including gathering details about their main concerns and, when applicable, obtaining vital signs and mental status information.
- Assessing the urgency of patient visits based on brief evaluations and knowledge of patient history, utilizing computerized medical databases to assist in decision-making, and consulting with physicians as necessary.
- Administering assessments and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Routing test results to physicians for evaluation.
- Providing patient education as required.
- Assisting with minor clinical procedures.
- Accurately collecting and documenting patient information.
- Supporting clinic operations as needed.
- Facilitating the implementation of post-operative orders from physicians.
- Upholding patient confidentiality at all times.
- Maintaining a safe, compliant, and ethical work environment.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Current RN or LPN degree with an active state license. Current BLS certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of employment. Experience in triage is preferred.
- Effective communication skills to interact calmly and clearly with patients.
- Ability to collaborate closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Familiarity with telephone-based clinical assessment methodologies.
- Understanding of medical practice telephone triage protocols.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records to access patient history.
This position operates Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, with no weekend or holiday shifts required.
