We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist 2 to join our team at Inova Alexandria Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing advanced respiratory care to patients in a critical care environment.
Key Responsibilities- Administer advanced respiratory therapeutic interventions, including heliox, nitric oxide, and chest wall oscillation, with moderate proficiency and occasional supervision.
- Establish and manage basic mechanical ventilation with high proficiency and minimal to no supervision.
- Perform weaning mechanics as ordered with high proficiency in more than 90 percent of ventilator patients cared for.
- Review the need for continuing ventilator support and develop or refine ventilator care plans, communicating with the patient care team.
- Formulate a plan of care for patients based on diagnostic data, response to therapy, and physiologic profiles.
- Graduate of an accredited CoARC respiratory care program.
- Six months in a critical care environment or one or more years of specialized training in advanced diagnostics/pulmonary rehabilitation as a practicing Respiratory Therapist.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care or more than 10 years of experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
- Basic Life Support from AHA upon start.
- Advanced Certifications (ACLS, PALS or NRP) must be obtained within one year from date of hire.
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist and eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
