Respiratory Therapist 2 Full-Time Night Shift Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist 2 to join our team at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. This full-time position involves working 36 hours per week, with three 12-hour night shifts and every other weekend. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of healthcare professionals and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Administer advanced respiratory therapeutic interventions, including heliox, nitric oxide, and chest wall oscillation, with moderate proficiency and occasional supervision.
- Establish and manage basic mechanical ventilation with high proficiency and minimal to no supervision, using complex forms of mechanical ventilation with moderate proficiency and occasional supervision.
- Perform weaning mechanics as ordered with high proficiency in more than 90 percent of ventilator patients cared for.
- Review the need for continuing ventilator support and develop or refine ventilator care plans, communicating with the patient care team.
- Formulate a plan of care for patients based on diagnostic data, response to therapy, and physiologic profiles, ensuring that therapeutic plans are sound and consistent with departmental standards of care.
- Graduate of an accredited CoARC respiratory care program.
- At least six months of experience in a critical care environment or one or more years of specialized training in advanced diagnostics/pulmonary rehabilitation as a practicing Respiratory Therapist.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care or more than 10 years of experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
- Basic Life Support from AHA upon start.
- Advanced Certifications (ACLS, PALS, or NRP) must be obtained within one year from date of hire.
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist and eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
