Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health). As a Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining radiographic equipment and supplies under the direction of a physician to perform procedures involving the acquisition and processing of diagnostic radiographic images.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain medical history pertinent to the exam being performed within the guidelines set forth by HIPPA.
  • Interpret physicians' orders; screen patient(s) prior to a procedure.
  • Position and transfer patient(s) on/off the radiographic table while utilizing proper body mechanics; provide immobilization devices or stabilizers to obtain optimum results, as necessary.
  • Assist with patient and procedure room preparation; position and adjust equipment according to the specifications of the procedure; perform equipment safety checks prior to testing.
  • Explain components of procedures to patient(s); observe and monitor patient(s) throughout procedure(s); advise the physician of any abnormal indicators.
  • Perform procedures on patient(s) to produce optimal diagnostic images, under supervision; maintain sterile field during procedures, as appropriate.
  • Determine the best method of obtaining optimal diagnostic images; select and modify technical factors and adjust technique, as necessary; use protective devices and techniques to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Administer contrast media and/or medications, under supervision.
  • Assist with post-procedure clean-up; maintain and clean all equipment.
  • Review, label, format, and process diagnostic images after capturing; ensure diagnostic images meet established standards.
  • Utilize health information systems to navigate patient records; input, retrieve, and maintain information in patient records; verify accurate completion of patient records following procedures; utilize procedure and supply codes and charges.
  • Adhere to all government, industry, or institutional regulatory guidelines.
  • Operate all radiographic equipment including mobile units.
Requirements
  • Current/valid registration and certification in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current/valid accreditation as a Radiologic Technologist by the State of Illinois (IEMA).
  • Based on institutional requirements, a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification by an approved certifying board as defined by the employing institution.
