Job Overview

Covenant House California is a leading organization dedicated to providing shelter and support services to at-risk youth. We are seeking an experienced Custodial Care Specialist to join our team in residential services.

About the Role

This dynamic role requires a caring and organized individual to provide custodial supervision of our shelter facilities, ensuring a safe and clean environment for our residents. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with Case Managers, Supervisors, and other program areas to deliver residential services that meet the unique needs of each resident.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide custodial supervision of the shelter, including coverage of various areas of the facility.
  • Support Case Managers and Supervisors in delivering residential services, including sign-out of TAP cards, packing and storing belongings of discharged residents, inspecting the facility for safety and maintenance, logging medication, and documenting resident interactions.
  • Build rapport with residents, supervise meal times, and ensure common areas and bedrooms are clean on a daily basis.
  • Function as Person in Charge (PIC), coordinate and facilitate in-house group activities, and assist with supervision during special activities and outings.
  • Document incidents, maintain accurate records, and communicate pertinent information to Case Managers and Supervisors.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with relevant life and/or work experience considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience working with at-risk youth.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Computer literacy (Word, Outlook, ACCESS, etc.) and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid CA driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation.
