POSITION/TITLE: SANITATION Associate
Reports to: SANITATION SUPERVISOR
POSITION SUMMARY: The Sanitation Associate collaborates with the Supervisor to uphold Standard Operating Procedures and facilitate staff training (OSHA, equipment processes). This role involves close cooperation with the Maintenance team on various initiatives. The primary responsibility is to ensure cleanliness throughout the facility in accordance with the Master Sanitation Schedule, which includes the thorough cleaning of equipment and internal and external areas. Please note that this position is focused on commercial sanitation and is not related to residential cleaning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness across all facility areas.
- Assemble and disassemble production machinery for comprehensive cleaning.
- Immediately report any signs of wear, erosion, or malfunctioning parts to the maintenance department.
- Move supplies, products, or equipment as instructed.
- Keep the sanitation supply room organized and tidy.
- Adhere to GMP & OSHA Standards, including Personal Protective Equipment requirements and uniform standards.
- Participate in Safety Meetings as required.
- Maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Assist with Maintenance projects as necessary.
- Support the Supervisor in training activities as needed (OSHA, equipment processes).
- Be open to completing additional tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES:
- G.E.D. preferred, but not mandatory.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial cleaning environment is required, with bakery experience being a plus.
- Prior sanitation or cleaning experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is highly valued.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Mechanical aptitude is essential.
- Ability to use judgment in planning, performing, and making decisions regarding the sequence of operations within standard procedures.
- Effective verbal communication skills; reading and writing in English is necessary.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and a willingness to learn are required.
- Prior experience with industrial powered lifts is necessary.
- OSHA training is preferred.
REGULATORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as a member of the Safety Team, representing regulatory compliance and food safety responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to GMP standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent bending and lifting of up to 50 pounds (often overhead).
- Constant walking and standing (80% - 90% of the time).
- Regular talking and hearing.
- Frequent pushing and pulling of bakery equipment.
- Regular reaching and climbing.
- Close and distance vision is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Exposure to frequent loud to moderate noise levels.
- Experience extreme temperature fluctuations, from very cold to freezer conditions.
