About the Department:

Information Technology Services serves as the central IT organization, providing essential resources, systems, services, and tools to the community.

The Learning Space Design team is dedicated to enhancing educational experiences by:

  • Overseeing extensive technology refresh initiatives for various learning environments, specialized laboratories, and meeting spaces;
  • Crafting instructional technology systems for classrooms;
  • Recommending innovative technologies to support the educational mission; and
  • Establishing university-wide AV standards.

About the Position:

The AV Project Manager plays a crucial role in design initiatives that support educational activities, focusing on new constructions, renovations, and technology upgrades. This position is responsible for developing departmental standards that are reliable, cost-effective, and utilize commercially available industry hardware, software, and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Collaborates with team members across various units within ITS and the university on classroom and lab projects, as well as other assignments; manages all phases of learning space projects from initial design to implementation, ensuring adherence to university standards; oversees project planning, scheduling, training, budgeting, and team coordination; ensures timely delivery of all project outcomes within budget.
  • Learning Environments & Instructional Technology Design: Provides consultation services for learning spaces and meeting rooms; coordinates new technology installations and upgrades; collaborates with AV Engineers to create AutoCAD drawings for AV installation projects; engages with faculty and staff to gather requirements and develop technology solutions; maintains university classroom technology standards.
  • Soft Projects: Responsible for various non-tangible projects that support the goals of the university, including ticketing systems and enterprise-level support systems; ensures proper documentation and closure of all soft projects upon completion.
  • Strategic Planning: Works with the Learning Space Design Manager to develop long-term technology and budgetary plans; supports data requests for initiatives and planning; conducts research on user requirements for new installations; collaborates on data analysis to inform future project roadmaps.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • PMI, PMP, CAPM certification or the ability to obtain CAPM certification within the first year of employment preferred;
  • Experience in generating AutoCAD drawings for AV upgrades;
  • Proven experience in project team environments for AV installation projects with strict deadlines;
  • Strong organizational and management skills;
  • Demonstrated experience with large-scale AV/technology projects;
  • Collaborative working style essential for successful project completion;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience with AutoCAD drawings for installation projects;
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service in a technical setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field;
  • Experience managing AV installation projects in higher education;
  • Experience overseeing AV technology projects in a higher education context.
