Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's Foot and Hand Center. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling all surgical activities, ensuring seamless communication with patients, physicians, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule all surgical cases, including posting of cases, pre-certification of insurance, and admissions.
  • Communicate with patients and physicians to ensure timely and efficient scheduling.
  • Collect accurate patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Print and distribute weekly surgery schedules to staff.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to obtain precertification.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 3-4 years of experience in a medical/clinical office, including computerized scheduling systems.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in computerized medical billing environment and knowledge of third-party carrier billing requirements.
  • Knowledge of ICD 9 and CPT coding and medical terminology.
