DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan stands as a leading institution in rehabilitation medicine and research, recognized nationally for its exceptional clinical services in areas such as spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, strokes, amputations, orthopedics, and comprehensive care for catastrophic injuries. The Institute is home to the Center for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery and the Southeastern Michigan Traumatic Brain Injury System (SEMTBIS), which is one of only 16 federally designated model systems for brain injury care and research. Additionally, RIM operates 31 outpatient facilities across southeast Michigan, focusing on sports medicine and orthopedic care.

Position Overview

Under the guidance of a licensed speech/language pathologist and/or audiologist, both of whom possess the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), the following responsibilities will be undertaken:

Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) in Speech/Language Pathology: Assess and diagnose communication disorders while providing therapeutic interventions for individuals with communication challenges.

Clinical Fellow in Audiology: Identify patients with hearing impairments; provide counseling to patients and their families; assist in educational management; facilitate referrals; select appropriate hearing aids and ensure their effective usage.

Qualifications:

  1. CFY Speech/Language Pathology: A Master's degree or equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
  2. Clinical Fellow Audiology: A Master's degree or equivalent (including completion of coursework for the AUD) in Audiology is necessary.
