The Institute excels in treating a variety of conditions including spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, strokes, amputations, orthopedic issues, and other severe injuries. It is home to the Center for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery and the Southeastern Michigan Traumatic Brain Injury System (SEMTBIS), which is one of only 16 federally designated model systems dedicated to brain injury care and research. Additionally, the Institute operates 31 outpatient facilities across southeast Michigan, focusing on sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation.

Position Overview

Under the guidance of a certified speech/language pathologist and/or audiologist, the selected candidate will engage in the following:

Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) - Speech/Language Pathology: Responsible for diagnosing communication disorders and delivering therapeutic interventions for individuals experiencing communication challenges.

Clinical Fellow - Audiology: Tasked with identifying patients with hearing impairments; providing counseling to patients and their families; assisting in educational strategies; making necessary referrals; selecting appropriate hearing aids and ensuring their effective utilization.

Qualifications:

1. For CFY Speech/Language Pathology: A Master's degree or equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology is required.

2. For Clinical Fellow Audiology: A Master's degree or equivalent (including completion of coursework for the AUD) in Audiology is necessary.
