Job Description and Duties

As a Program Technician III at the Department of Justice, you will play a critical role in analyzing and interpreting criminal history documents, resolving complex errors or omissions, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements for firearms licensing, certification, or employment purposes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and interpret criminal history documents to identify errors or omissions
  • Resolve complex issues related to criminal history records and related source documents
  • Correspond with criminal justice agencies by mail, telephone, and fax
  • Provide training to new and current employees on criminal history procedures and policies
  • Work collaboratively with the Staff Services Manager I to ensure compliance with legal requirements
Requirements:
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice process
  • Proficiency in statutory code sections, disposition terminology, and DOJ automated systems
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under stress and adjust to changing priorities
  • Highly motivated and flexible with a strong work ethic
