Job Summary

This role supports the mission of the Foothills Area YMCA by providing a safe and engaging environment for members to achieve their health and wellness goals. The Water Fitness Instructor will lead group water fitness classes, develop positive relationships with members, and promote a culture of inclusion and respect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead energizing and safe group water fitness classes that align with the healthy living program goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of wellness trends and provide effective information and support to members.
  • Identify and celebrate the successes of members and program participants.
  • Maintain accurate class attendance records and follow YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency situations and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • National certification in Water Aerobics required within 60 days of hire.
  • First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications required within 30 days of hire.
  • Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire.
  • At least one year of experience teaching group exercise classes preferred.
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with members and staff using Listen First skills.
