Job Description Summary

At GE Aerospace, we're pushing the boundaries of innovation in aerospace and defense. As an Advanced Lead Embedded Software Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and testing embedded software for our Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) team. IVHM creates solutions that perform health management for the aircraft.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Take a lead role in architecting, designing, and developing embedded software for IVHM products, ensuring adherence to GE's stringent processes and the DO-178C standard.
  • Continuous Integration and Testing: Oversee continuous software integration and testing processes to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify software failures and implement effective solutions, ensuring the robustness of IVHM solutions.
  • Mentorship: Act as a mentor and resource for less experienced team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
Requirements
  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Professional Experience: At least 6 years of experience in embedded software development, with a minimum of 2 years working specifically with DO-178C software development processes and certification standards. Additionally, at least 2 years of experience in C coding is required.
  • Citizenship: Due to the sensitive nature of the work, this position is open only to U.S. citizens, with GE requiring proof of status prior to employment.
Desired Characteristics
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, coupled with excellent oral and written communication abilities, are essential for this role.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in project management, encompassing cost, schedule, earned value, scope, and risk management, is desired.
  • Specialized Experience: Experience with DO-178C DAL B is highly desirable, indicating a deeper understanding of the stringent requirements for software that operates at a high level of safety criticality.
