The Role

Lumen Technology Architects are responsible for designing and architecting solutions using our technology services platform. They collaborate with our Sales, Solution Engineering, and Customer Success teams to drive the growth of our enterprise clients.

As a Technology Architect, you will possess a strong inclination to integrate technical expertise with sales capabilities, coupled with business insight, to comprehend business needs, formulate a technical sales strategy, and present solutions that meet customer requirements and deliver business value.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Specialized Solution Design: You will serve as the expert for Solution Engineers at Lumen, offering in-depth knowledge when it comes to specific technologies or products.
  2. Specialist Expertise: You will offer design, solution best practices, and industry knowledge to sales teams during the customer lifecycle.
  3. Product Partnership: You will collaborate with Product Management to enhance processes and design within specific product areas and advise relevant departments on solutions.
  4. Customer Meetings: You will participate in customer meetings, develop and present technical proposals and presentations tailored to the audience's business understanding, and offer comprehensive answers to questions about solutions and technologies.
What We Look For in a Candidate

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technology Architect with a strong background in networks-as-a-service, NFV, MEF/Carrier Ethernet, TCP/IP, BGP, Internet, MPLS, SASE, DDOS, Network Security, Cloud Connect to GCP, Azure, AWS, and Oracle.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and sales skills, with the ability to independently orchestrate and lead discussions with clients across multiple levels, including C-level, VPs, and Directors within IT.

They will also have a proven track record of success in attaining sales quota through leveraging technical relationships to up-sell existing customers and calling on new leads/prospects to generate business within an assigned territory using solution selling methodologies.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years pre-sales role responsible for needs identification, qualification, and solutions design with certain products/applications.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work with multiple levels of decision making.
  • Expert problem-solving skills and ability to methodically understand and resolve complex issues across multiple products to integrate into a seamless customer solution.
Work Style

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual who can work independently, as part of a team, or lead a team to build complex customer solutions.

The ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills, be able to prioritize tasks, and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Presentation Skills

We are seeking an individual with expert-level communication skills capable of creating engaging proposals and presenting to customers at any level of expertise.

They will also have advanced knowledge and usage of computer business applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.

Education

A Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience in the private sector or military is required.

Industry certification in one or more specialized technologies is a plus.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

The Base Salary Ranges listed do not include other incentives that may be possible with this role.

Location

The Professional in this role should reside in the Central Region of the continental USA and be willing to travel when required for business-critical client and internal meetings.
