Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electronics Technician to join our team at Gaston County Schools. As an Electronics Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electronic devices, systems, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electronic systems, including intercom, fire alarm, and television networks.
  • Analyze building life safety systems, intercom systems, and computer and television networks, and recommend modifications or new construction to achieve system effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Upfit and upgrade wiring and equipment to meet and satisfy new and increasing National Fire Protection Association codes, regulations, and GCS standards.
  • Research new equipment, codes, and procedures for possible adoption and use.
  • Review proposed new construction programs and make recommendations for inclusion in the project.
  • Plan, schedule, budget, and secure necessary materials to successfully complete system repairs.
  • Program intercoms and bells.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations in performing assigned tasks and operating required equipment.
Requirements
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) Year Degree in Electronics, preferred.
  • Minimum Three (3) to Five (5) Years of Electronic Repair Experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fire Alarm Systems, Inspector License.
  • Security (Installer) Certification.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to troubleshoot complex electronic systems. The employee must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Salary and Benefits

This position may be eligible for up to a 12% increase based on certification and licensure. The salary for this position is Grade 67, Non-Exempt.
