About the Role

Rush is seeking a highly skilled Admissions Registration Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Patient Registration department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient registration process for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, verify, and enter patient demographic, insurance, and financial information into our electronic health record system with high accuracy.
  • Consistently obtain and interpret patient insurance benefits, communicating this information accurately to patients and colleagues.
  • Determine patient financial obligations and communicate this information respectfully and accurately.
  • Perform registration functions in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies and payer requirements, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Notify patients of hospital policies governing the revenue cycle and minimize potential financial risk by discussing financial responsibilities with patients and/or guarantors.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries from patients, payers, physicians, and internal departments, exercising good customer service skills and finding resolution to issues.
  • Collaborate with various departments to resolve issues and analyze necessary information to ensure hospital reimbursement.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies to ensure adherence to honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 0-1 year of experience in a healthcare or customer service setting.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic keyboarding skills.
  • Critical thinking, sound judgment, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Team-oriented, open-minded, flexible, and willing to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize and function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Experience in a hospital or clinic environment, health insurance company, managed care organization, or other healthcare financial service setting.
  • Knowledge of insurance and governmental programs, regulations, and billing processes.
