Relief Driver

As a Relief Driver with Nelson-Jameson, Inc., you will be responsible for delivering orders to customers, picking up stock at vendors, maintaining equipment, and performing other related delivery functions. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills.

• Truck Loading
  • Load orders in a logical and efficient manner to ensure timely delivery.
• Product Delivery and Pick Up
  • Deliver products to customers and branch locations according to scheduled routes.
  • Pick up products from suppliers as required.
  • Handle hazardous materials and regulatory forms as needed.
  • Properly handle freezable and perishable products.
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer inquiries.
• Maintain Accurate Records
  • Obtain and maintain necessary licenses and permits.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date logs and records.
  • Submit bills of lading, purchase orders, and other required documents in a timely manner.
• Warehouse Backup
  • Complete all necessary documents for unloading and loading trucks.
  • Accurately receive purchase orders and complete required documentation.
  • Use the "put-a-way" process accurately.
  • Print orders and pick lists.
  • Assist with inventory and cycle counts.
  • Print, pick, and ship transfers.
  • Pick and prepare products for outgoing shipments.
  • Confirm shipments and prepare necessary documents.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly warehouse.
  • Operate forklifts and other equipment as needed.
• Other Duties
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned by management.

• Education
  • High school degree or equivalent.
• Experience
  • 3-5 years of previous semi-driving experience.
• Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT and tanker endorsements.

This role requires the ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 56#, occasionally lift and/or move more than 75#, and infrequently push/pull greater than 115#. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The employee will be exposed to moving equipment, dust particles, ladders, hazardous chemicals, and wet environments with caution needed for slight risk of electrical shock. A warehouse environment is typical in this position. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The working surface can be variable type surfaces wet or dry.

The route and days will be determined upon hire. Hours will be within legal limits per DOT regulations.
