About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Firmware and Software Engineering to lead our firmware and mobile application software teams. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive innovation and growth in our connected coffee products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of firmware and software engineering strategies to drive innovation and growth in our connected coffee products.
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of firmware and software for our connected coffee products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineering, product management, and program management, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of our products.
  • Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and resource plans to ensure successful project execution.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and execution risks to ensure the safety and efficacy of our appliances.
  • Lead and mentor a team of embedded software engineers to drive technical excellence and innovation.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest architecture approaches in secure IoT device provisioning and management for consumer hardware.
  • Develop and implement processes to ensure compliance with safety certifications and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of technical experience in embedded software/firmware development and integration experience with hardware and software, with more than 3 years of management experience.
  • 3+ years of management experience in embedded systems, including hardware and software design, IoT communication protocol design, and control systems.
  • Experience developing software in C, C++, Swift, and with backend frameworks such as Node. Experience with lightweight device operating systems such as FreeRTOS.
  • Familiarity with safety certifications and compliance standards required for connected consumer hardware products.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
