We are seeking highly qualified Course Assistants to support the teaching and learning experience in the MSSP Economics for Social Policy course.

About the Course

The MSSP Economics for Social Policy course is a comprehensive introduction to the principles of economics and their application to social policy. Students will gain a deep understanding of the economic concepts and tools necessary to analyze and evaluate social policies.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the Canvas site and ensure that all course materials are up-to-date and accessible to students.
  • Grade assignments and class participation, providing timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Contribute to the design of course assignments and assessments, ensuring that they are aligned with the course learning objectives.
  • Answer student questions about course logistics, content, and grading, escalating difficult questions to the instructor as needed.
  • Attend lectures or, by permission of the instructor, read relevant course materials instead of attending lectures.
  • Depending on the course, design lab sessions based on past lab materials and hold lab sessions.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must have a strong mastery of the course content, demonstrated by relevant degrees, classes taken, and/or professional experience. Familiarity with public economics and research experience in public economics are highly desirable.

What We Offer

Course Assistants will work 7-10 hours per week, with a maximum of 100 hours total, and will be paid $25 per hour, up to $2,500 over the course of the semester. This is a great opportunity to gain teaching experience, develop your skills, and contribute to the academic success of our students.
