We are seeking a dedicated and passionate After-School Support Specialist to join our team at Commonpoint Queens. As an integral part of our after-school programs, this role will support the Program Directors in delivering high-quality programming for elementary-aged youth from Kindergarten to fifth grade.

About This Role

This position requires a strong passion for working with youth, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, time management abilities, computer literacy, and the capacity to handle multiple tasks. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively as part of a team, build strong relationships with staff, youth, parents, schools, and the local community.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Program Directors to develop and implement program updates and activities.
  • Provide coaching, support, and assistance to program staff to ensure successful program implementation.
  • Ensure the proper implementation of programming, including activities, student participation, supervision of youth and staff, and maintaining safe spaces.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with staff, youth, parents, schools, and neighboring communities.
  • Assist in planning and implementing youth development programming, including schedules, activities, and team-based projects.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Strong leadership and management skills to motivate and support team members.
  • Familiarity with DYCD Connect, EzReports, and Salesforce systems is preferred.
  • Perform additional administrative and programmatic tasks as deemed necessary by the Program and Senior Directors.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Pursuing a degree in Education, Social Work, or a relevant field is preferred.
  • Experience working with youth in an educational setting is essential.
  • Willingness to undergo criminal, child protection, and sexual registry background checks.
Work Arrangements

This is a part-time position, limited to 19 hours per week. Hours may vary, and any additional hours worked or offered will be temporary and subject to the discretion of the Senior Director of the Youth Education Services Department.

Location

We operate at multiple locations, including PS 115:80-51 261st St, Queens, NY 11004; PS 169: 18-25 212th St, Bay Terrace, NY 11360; and PS 220: 62-10 108th St, Forest Hills, NY 11375.

Compensation
