We are currently seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team.


Key Responsibilities:
- Support Environmentally Assisted Fatigue (EAF) and Metal Fatigue initiatives.
- Execute various engineering tasks in alignment with our proprietary WESTEMS program, which focuses on fatigue aging management software for monitoring plant transients and conducting fatigue analysis.
- Develop tailored WESTEMS models specific to different sites.
- Analyze data from operational plants to generate transient cycle counts and assess fatigue usage at monitored locations.
- Assist in coding enhancements to the WESTEMS software to improve its functionality and efficiency.
- Provide ongoing support to customers utilizing the WESTEMS software, including installation, training, and user group meetings.
- Collaborate with external clients to define project scopes for commercial proposals.

- Engage in a variety of engineering tasks supporting our License Renewal and Subsequent License Renewal Projects, with an emphasis on Time-Limited Aging Analyses (TLAAs), Metal Fatigue, and EAF.


- Identify TLAAs, fatigue analyses of record (AORs), and design transients integral to the current licensing framework.
- Review operational data and logs to identify historical transient occurrences and project future transient cycles for extended operational periods.
- Conduct EAF screening evaluations to pinpoint critical component locations needing further assessment.

- Perform hand calculations to minimize conservatism in the fatigue AOR and apply EAF penalty factors (Fen) in calculating EAF cumulative usage factors (CUFen).


- Utilize ANSYS software to create finite element models and transfer functions for downstream WESTEMS evaluations.
- Employ WESTEMS software to carry out detailed stress and fatigue evaluations in accordance with ASME Code Section III Subsection NB-3200 criteria.
- Collaborate with external clients to define project scope and address feedback on documentation.
- Provide consultation to clients to resolve inquiries from regulatory bodies and requests for additional information.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required; 10 years or more is preferred.
- Experience in piping systems and component analysis.
- Familiarity with ASME Section III and Section XI criteria is preferred.
- Proficiency in FEA and ANSYS/ABAQUS is preferred.
- Ability to learn rapidly and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of nuclear plant primary systems is preferred.
