We are seeking a highly skilled Family Medicine Physician to join our team at Health Advocates Network. As a Family Medicine Physician, you will be responsible for providing medical care to adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient populations.
Responsibilities:- Examine, evaluate, diagnose, and treat medical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient populations.
- Serve as a medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist/practitioner.
- Complete admission medical assessments, including history and physical examinations, mental status examination, and entering admission orders.
- Order diagnostic/therapeutic tests and procedures.
- Monitor patients' progress, including laboratory values and special procedures, with appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed.
- Consult with authorized representatives/legal guardians on patient medical status.
- Collaborate with attending psychiatric practitioner to provide DSM-5 diagnoses that are valid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment.
- Provide coverage to the medical clinic and admission suit to ensure the admission process is completed.
- Prescribe medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices.
- Assess and address medication side-effects and report adverse drug reactions.
- Ensure timely and quality documentation in patient records in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines.
- 3+ years of experience as a Physician/Practitioner, autonomous preferred.
- Strong experience working with patients having Serious Mental Illness (SMI).
- Psychiatric Crisis Management and Forensic experience, a plus.
- Experience working with adult admissions or geriatric admissions and acute and chronic health management of adult and geriatric populations.
- Comfortable working on admissions work up and potential rapid turnover.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- BLS Healthcare Provider certification is required.
