Position Overview: This role primarily involves shot blasting, surface preparation, and the management of equipment within a controlled environment.

Safety Considerations: This position is classified as Safety-Sensitive, meaning that the tasks performed can significantly impact the safety and health of the individual and others. Responsibilities may include operating material handling equipment, motorized vehicles, welding tools, fabrication machinery, power tools, and working in elevated or confined spaces as per OSHA guidelines. Our expertise lies in the safe processing of alloyed structures, weldments, piping systems, pressure vessels, and sheet metal components of various shapes and sizes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transporting equipment in and out of the blast room utilizing overhead cranes or forklifts.
  • Executing shot blasting operations on various equipment.
  • Maintaining and servicing blast equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in industrial coating preparation and application.
  • Ability to read and interpret pre-paint surface preparation guidelines.
  • Capability to meet quality and aesthetic standards as required.
  • Proficient in conducting blasting operations safely and utilizing blast media correctly.
  • Must pass a pulmonary test and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator.

Equipment and Tools:

  • Personal protective equipment.
  • Forklift.
  • Overhead crane.
  • Blast equipment.
  • Basic hand tools.
  • Basic power tools.

Working Environment:

  • Primarily situated in a controlled shop environment.
  • Occasional outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand for over 7 hours during a typical workday.
  • Limited sitting during the workday.
  • Ability to walk for 1-4 hours throughout the day.
  • Minimal driving required.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs, with frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Engagement in repetitive tasks requiring upper extremity use, including grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
  • Ability to bend, squat, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and use foot controls as necessary.
