Job Summary

The Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Medical Imaging Department at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. This role involves coordinating and directing the activities of the department, ensuring the timely completion of patient exams, and interacting with medical and nursing staff to provide efficient patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Operations: Coordinate and direct the daily operations of the Medical Imaging Department, including MRI, CT, PET/CT, X-ray, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine.
  • Patient Care: Ensure the timely completion of patient exams in accordance with department procedures for technical quality, and interact with medical and nursing staff to provide efficient patient care.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the QC/QA requirements to maintain accreditation as appropriate.
  • Leadership: Serve in a leadership role collaboratively and independently for programmatic planning, business planning, budgeting, including major capital equipment purchases, and marketing initiatives.
  • Financial Management: Ensure that billing information and coding are up-to-date to obtain proper reimbursement.
  • Clinical Exams: Perform all clinical exams in the appropriate modality with a competency level of a senior or resource technologist, as needed.
  • Patient Safety: Assure the comfort and safety of the patient at all times.
Qualifications
  • Education: Degree of program that provides the ability to attain certification of licensure.
  • Certifications: ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) registry AND Washington State Radiologic Technologist Licensure, or Certified in abdominal, neuro, and/or OB/GYN ultrasonography by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Sonography (ARRT) (S).
  • Experience: 3 years of tech experience required.
  • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
  • Teamwork: Works well with team members toward a common purpose, reinforces the efforts and goals of the work group, supports the team's decisions regardless of individual viewpoint.
  • Customer Relations: Demonstrates good customer relations skills.
  • Flexibility: Demonstrates flexibility in schedules and assignments in order to meet the needs of the department.
  • Equipment Management: Utilizes, maintains, and allocates equipment and supplies in a cost-effective manner.
  • Process Improvement: Improves productivity through proper time management, seeks feedback from customers and team members in order to identify and improve processes and outcomes.
