Job Summary

Howard University Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Secretary for Pathology Lab to join our team. As a key member of our clinical laboratory team, you will provide administrative support to the Department of Pathology, ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Department of Pathology, including answering phone calls, transcribing dictated reports, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Screen surgical pathology billing slips for accuracy and completeness, and maintain computer-based files to laboratory service information and protocols.
  • Provide secretarial support to the Pathology faculty, residents, and staff as required, including maintaining accessions surgical Pathology specimen data in the laboratory system.
  • Prepare and distribute pathology reports to assigned physicians, and provide customer-related services to staff.
  • Promote adherence to Health Sciences Compliance Program, Howard University Code of Ethics, and Health Sciences Code of Ethics.
Requirements
  • Two (2) college and/or Business school with courses in Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or related fields of study.
  • Two (2) years of progressive medical transcription experience in a healthcare setting.
