Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Department of Transplant, the Registered Dietitian assumes total responsibility for the nutritional care of pre, waitlisted, and post-transplant patients in the outpatient clinic setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess pre-transplant nutritional needs and develop individualized care plans.
  • Provide education on nutrition for patients and family members regarding disease-specific needs.
  • Monitor long-term progress and continuously evaluate the effectiveness of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
  • Participate in transplant meetings and committees, serving as a resource person on nutritional care for pre- and post-transplant patients.
  • Develop, implement, and record nutrition care plans for assigned patients in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Collaborate with and mentor dietetic interns and students.
  • Provide coverage for other solid organ transplant services as needed.
Requirements
  • Equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in Foods and Nutrition/Dietetics and completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics internship.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification.
  • Two years of experience in a comparable transplant setting.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, and external constituents.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Nutrition.
  • Prior experience working with Heart and/or Lung transplant patients.
  • Knowledge of ICU/Critical Care needs.
  • Knowledge of Cystic Fibrosis care needs.
