Role Summary

The Evaluation Specialist at PIE is tasked with guiding a variety of projects, personnel, and clients through numerous evaluation cycles with cultural competence and responsiveness. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic leadership for external evaluation initiatives (e.g., formative, summative, process evaluations).
  • Offering evaluation coaching to empower organizations in developing their internal evaluation capabilities.
  • Collaborating with PIE staff to effectively execute these responsibilities.

Most evaluation activities will focus on the social impact sector, covering areas such as education, social services, healthcare, philanthropic efforts, and collaborative networks, with PIE continuously expanding its service offerings.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Facilitate engaging sessions for small and large groups using innovative techniques (e.g., workshops, logic modeling).
  • Develop data collection strategies, tools, and protocols aligned with desired outcomes and research objectives.
  • Lead the gathering of quantitative and qualitative data to support client learning and promote equitable change.
  • Construct and maintain databases, oversee data entry, and ensure data integrity throughout the evaluation process.
  • Conduct analyses using appropriate tools for both quantitative (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R) and qualitative data (e.g., NVivo, MAXQDA).
  • Synthesize evaluation findings to produce clear insights that align with evaluation questions and program outcomes.
  • Provide actionable interpretations and recommendations based on data analysis that meet stakeholder objectives.
  • Compose reports and executive summaries that highlight key insights and advocate for equitable impact for our clients.
  • Manage and utilize data reporting tools such as dashboards and data visualization platforms (e.g., Excel, Google Looker, Canva).

  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate data-informed discussions with diverse groups.
  • Proficient writing skills, as high-quality report communication is essential for this role.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2-3 years of experience managing evaluation projects in a consulting capacity.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with statistical and qualitative analysis.
  • A master's degree in evaluation, statistics, research methods, social work, public health, education policy, or a related field is preferred.
  • Access to reliable transportation to perform job duties as required.
