Key Responsibilities:- Lead the Site Safety Team: Provide direction, set deadlines, and ensure proper safety coverage through approved scheduling.
- Administrative Tasks: Ensure all safety policies are enforced and all areas of the PWS are maintained.
- Housekeeping and FOD Program: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including the shop and surrounding areas.
- Compliance and Monitoring: Analyze work processes, materials, equipment, and employee work habits to identify and mitigate hazards.
- EHS Training and Development: Conduct and oversee training programs for employees on topics such as employee-right-to-know, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety.
- Project Management: Plan and schedule work to meet deadlines, using judgment to develop and design solutions to difficult health and safety problems.
- Traditional EHS Duties: Perform job safety analyses, health and safety training, workplace incident investigations, workplace safety inspections, field operation supervision, and internal audits.
- Customer Representation: Represent the Company at the Customer's monthly safety meetings and publish meeting notes.
- Regulatory Compliance: Serve as a resource to management on matters relating to occupational health and safety compliance, fire protection, and loss prevention.
- Facility Compliance: Conduct reviews for facility compliance, PPE purchases, new equipment development and modification, and equipment/machinery purchases.
- Safety Liaison: Assist the Site Management as a safety liaison with base personnel, OSHA, fire departments, and local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
- Work Scheduling: Coordinate the scheduling for employee Workcare requirements, including annual audiogram, ground physicals, respirator physicals, and other requirements.
- Ergonomic Risk Assessments: Assist in conducting ergonomic risk assessments and making appropriate corrective action recommendations.
- Safety Council Meetings: Schedule and lead quarterly safety council meetings with Site Management Team, Shop Leads, and Union Representatives.
- STS Certification: Become STS (Safety Trained Supervisor) certified and maintain certification as applicable.
- Employee Empowerment: Monitor employees for safe work practices and submit monthly safety recognition to Site Management for review.
- Operational Risk Management: Conduct and submit timely SSA's (System Safety Audit) and Project Bowtie Risk Assessments for compliance with Company KPI goals.
- Continuous Safety Improvement: Complete START training and assist in completing monthly CSI (Continuous Safety Improvement) projects.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years actual and recent O-level H-60S/R/F/H Aircraft Maintenance experience or equivalent rotary aircraft experience. Two (2) years must be performed at a management level.
- Skills: Ability to read and write and interpret technical data and special operating instructions. In-depth knowledge of the applicable aircraft and technical publications.
- Leadership: Good verbal and written skills and leadership ability.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with U.S. Naval repair maintenance operations on military aircraft highly preferred. Plane Captain, Phase Coordinator experience, RPPM, and STS Certification.
The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear. The employee must have the ability to perform aircraft maintenance duties and move freely about the interior & exterior of the aircraft as well as meet aircraft specific specifications for weight limits. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires hearing protection.
