Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Plasma Processing Technician to join our team at CSL Plasma. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which may include unsuitable plasma units and samples.
  • Verify the accuracy of unit labeling by matching the pre-printed label with the dynamic label.
  • Utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use a heat sealer to ensure the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples per SOPs.
  • Prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation.
  • Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
  • Record donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
  • Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center, if applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed.
  • Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
  • Promote safety in all actions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
  • May be required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in a laboratory or warehouse environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
  • Ability to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
  • Ability to occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to be frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
