As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding clients through their recovery process, utilizing evidence-based methodologies to foster their overall health, family dynamics, and community involvement.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Introduce clients to available resources, outlining program goals and offering continuous support and educational resources.
  • Utilize Evidence-Based Practices, such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to engage clients effectively.
  • Conduct high-quality individual and group sessions, both via Telehealth and in-person.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and provide ongoing engagement to support recovery objectives.
  • Implement individualized counseling approaches, including crisis intervention, personal sessions, group support, and case management.
  • Facilitate educational sessions on Medication Assisted Treatment and ensure continuity of care.
  • Encourage the development of coping strategies and problem-solving skills through innovative solutions and improved decision-making.
  • Provide education on addiction and its effects, customizing interventions to meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Collaborate with external organizations to facilitate additional services or referrals.
  • Oversee and report on toxicology testing procedures to ensure compliance and clarity.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • OASAS certification as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC or CASAC-T) is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Google and Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
  • Experience with Department of Homeless Services (DHS) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) is preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is advantageous but not required.

The salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
