Medication Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Medication Technician to join our team at Clearwater at The Heights, a premier luxury senior living community in Houston. As a Medication Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by documenting, delivering, and administering medications as prescribed by physicians.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist residents with their daily medications, treatments, and resident care as assigned and in accordance with policies, procedures, and government regulations.
  • Observe, verify, and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed.
  • Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and document the reason(s) why.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, complete, and confidential records on resident medication and care in accordance with established procedures and governing requirements.
  • Coordinate medication services with residents, pharmacy, and physicians, and verify dosages with physicians prior to dispensing.
  • Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills and prepare medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance.
  • Participate in and complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting any and all discrepancies to supervisor(s) immediately.
  • Assist caregivers in the performance of their job duties and assume caregiver activities and responsibilities when needed.
  • Respond to resident needs promptly and kindly while maintaining each resident's self-respect, personal dignity, personal safety, and confidentiality.
  • Read and follow care plans to ensure proper care is being given to residents.
  • Assist residents in their daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, hygiene, meals, activities, bowel and bladder functions, and transportation as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a Caregiver or Medication Technician.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
  • Active First Aid/CPR/BLS Certification required.
  • Background clearances as required by government regulations.
  • Must meet health requirements, including TB.
