Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a School Nutrition Worker. This is a temporary assignment with payment based on hours worked, and as work is available, with no eligibility or seniority for employee benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of various foods for cooking and serving.
  • Follow recipes to ensure menus are low-fat and healthy.
  • Implement state/local health codes as they relate to food service.
  • Follow all safety regulations.
  • Wash dishes, and store them properly.
  • Sweep and clean kitchen floors.
  • Serve on the serving line.
  • Know the procedures for operating large and small food service equipment.
  • Follow appropriate dress codes to represent school nutrition in a professional manner.
  • Clean equipment, kitchen, and dining tables, as needed.
  • Report faulty equipment to School Nutrition Manager.
  • Help to check in USDA commodities and purchased foods.
  • Help with the unloading and storage of all foods and supplies.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward the job, fellow workers, school staff, and students.
  • Participate in and attend all in-service training programs.
  • Perform necessary average lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate, and/or credential as may be required for this position.
  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner.
  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
  • Review current developments, literature, and technical source information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of any General Education Development (GED) Testing Program preferred, or satisfactory completion of Foodservice basic skills test.
  • Food service experience preferred, but not mandatory.
