Job Summary

The Security Sergeant plays a pivotal role within the Downtown Dallas security team, requiring professionalism, leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment. This individual must possess strong decision-making abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to effectively lead and motivate a team of security officers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Operations: Direct security operations at the scenes of incidents, alerting Lieutenants as needed and ensuring the efficient and effective execution of security operations.
  • Incident Reporting: Write investigative, incident, accident, and similar reports, maintaining accurate records and documentation related to security activities, incidents, and personnel.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to security officers in handling challenging situations and resolving conflicts, conducting regular patrols and inspections to identify security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms, taking appropriate action, as necessary.
  • Training and Development: Train and provide regular guidance to officers to provide secondary management and leadership support, recommending and assisting in the implementation of goals and objectives.
  • Equipment Management: Issue and maintain equipment, including radios, bikes, uniforms, and other necessary tools.
  • Community Engagement: Assist Dallas Police Department (DPD) and Crisis Intervention with homeless engagement and Quality of Life (QOL) issues, developing targeted patrols to address QOL issues in high-risk areas.
  • Customer Service: Provide a high level of customer service to citizens and visitors by answering questions and addressing complaints through internal investigations.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with DPD quality of life ordinance enforcement and Clean Team to address maintenance issues downtown.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Ideally, candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the security field, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Previous experience in law enforcement or military service may be advantageous.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong decision-making abilities, excellent communication skills, ability to effectively lead and motivate a team, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Language and Math: Ability to define problems, collect data, and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions, with a working knowledge of EPONIC and TrackTic Reporting System.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills, including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and experience in Microsoft Office applications.
