About the Role

The Deputy Chief Information Officer will work closely with the Chief Information Officer to manage technical resources, staff, and services for solutions delivered throughout the judicial branch. This role evaluates technologies and services, develops and plans projects, evaluates milestones, and assesses deliverables for assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Judicial Management Information Services (JMIS) division, its staff, and third-party partners.
  • Provide technical, administrative, and planning direction for JMIS projects, assessing and overseeing multiple critical projects and managing large-scale projects through IT staff and 3rd-party partners.
  • Develop and implement specific frameworks, procedures, and project management techniques to ensure milestones and timelines are met.
  • Manage and direct third-party technology partners to carry out critical projects and functions, ensuring attention to detail, time requirements, and problem resolution.
  • Evaluate and apply IT standards and best practices, following JMIS procedures and standards from organizations such as CISA, NIST, MS-ISAC, and other technical standard resources.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field of study.
  • Eight years of progressive experience in Information Technology.
  • Five years of supervisory experience of IT staff.
  • Experience with and management of cybersecurity, hardware and software, data storage and management systems, cloud technologies, application development, Internet services, networking, and IT operations.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in information technology, MBA, or a related field of study.
  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience in information technology and managing large IT enterprises.
  • Seven years of supervisory experience in information technology.
Working Conditions

The Deputy Chief Information Officer will work in a professional office environment and may be required to travel, including overnight stays. A valid Illinois driver's license and proof of automobile insurance are required to operate a personal vehicle on state business.
