Key Responsibilities:
As a Radiology Assistant, your primary duties will include:

  1. Ensuring patient and team safety within the MRI environment.
  2. Introducing yourself to patients, confirming their identity, and clearly explaining the procedures.
  3. Preparing patients for MRI examinations by providing guidance on changing attire, securing personal belongings, obtaining current weight, reviewing MRI screening forms, and offering additional instructions for a successful scanning experience.
  4. Assisting MRI technologists during examinations to promote efficiency and enhance patient care.
  5. Remaining vigilant to the needs of both the MRI technologist and patients, especially in emergency situations.
  6. Maintaining accurate records on the MRI exam data worksheet.

Patient Exam Management:
Complete patient exam documentation by:

  1. Verifying that all images are successfully uploaded to the PACS system.
  2. Entering necessary data for Radiologist review and billing purposes.
  3. Ensuring timely updates of results in patient charts, with appropriate notifications to providers.

Follow up with the Radiology reading group regarding any delays or technical issues encountered during service delivery. When requested, provide imaging studies on CD to patients or external offices, ensuring proper documentation of these tasks. Manage the import/export of CDs using the PACS system, and maintain adequate supplies for sharing images, including CDs, labels, and mailing materials. Ensure the availability of patient care and cleaning supplies, such as scrubs, exam linens, gloves, and disinfecting wipes. Oversee laundry operations for the MRI and Injection Suite.

Additional Responsibilities:
In addition to your primary duties, you will:

  1. Assist in various capacities within Radiology, adhering to all relevant policies when not assigned to MRI.
  2. Support the Injection Suite team as needed.
  3. Comply with MRI policies and promptly report any questions or concerns to management.
  4. Transcribe and schedule MRI referrals from both external facilities and in-house providers.
  5. Participate in projects as directed by the Lead MRI Technologist and Director of Ancillary Services.

Job Requirements:
Attendance at departmental and team meetings is required, along with participation in continuing education classes as mandated.
